2 JeM militants killed in Handwara

Srinagar November 20: Two militants were killed by a joint party of Police and Army at village Daril Vilgam, Handwara.

            The operation was launched following intelligence gathered by Srinagar Police by a joint party of Handwara Police, Srinagar Police, 9 Para and 6 RR. The militants had taken refuge in the Kothar of Abdul Ahad Rawat, son of Abdul Samad Rawat in Daril.

            As per initial Police investigation two militants of Jaish-e-Mohammad were killed and identified as Shamsheer @ Showkat Bhai and Irfan @ Abu Talib both were residents of Pakistan.

            The search of the area is going on.

Fire incident

Srinagar November 20: Due to leakage of gas, fire broke out in the house of Javid Ahmad Koul, resident of Umar Colony Lalbazar Srinagar, resulting in damage to some furniture and furnishing. Fire was brought under control. No loss of life or injury in this incident.

Srinagar November 20: A Truck bearing registration number JKD/8162 hit and injured one Motorcyclist namely Abul Salam Bhat, son of Ghulam Mohammad resident, of Gangi Lawaypora at Naslapora Budgam. The injured rushed to hospital for treatment. Police has registered a case in this regard.

Army personnel hit by  Snow Avalanche: Two dead bodies recovered, Seven missing 

Srinagar November 19: When a team of 7 personnel of Army 8 Bihar Regiment including a Major and a Lieutenant were searching for three local porters of their unit who had went missing, the army team came under a snow avalanche at Nawshar Nar Gurez Bandipora. Dead bodies of two army personnel namely LNK Saiba Baskow and Sepoy Chandar Kumar were recovered on 18.11.2008. Search for the other missing persons is going on. Further details will follow.

1 dies, 37 injured in road mishaps

Jammu November 19: One person died and thirty-seven others were injured in different road accidents in Jammu.

            A TATA mobile bearing registration JK06/2139 driven by Ab. Rashid son of Allah Ditta resident of Pikkil Gandoh on way from Donadi to Thathri rolled down at Machipal, falling under the jurisdiction of police station Kishtwar, resulting on spot death of one person namely Suresh Kumar son of Beli Ram resident of Lingo Borgran and injuring  thirteen persons out of which two persons namely Ab. Latief son of Mohd Anwar resident of Fakso and Ala Ditta son of Noor Din resident of Piakul were shifted to district hospital Doda. Further details will follow.

            A Truck bearing registration number JK02E/4975 on way from Poonch to Rajouri rolled down at Tota Gali resulting in injuries to nine persons of BSF who were on election duty in Poonch and proceeding to Rajouri for 2nd phase. Accident occurred due to rash and negligent driving of the driver namely Hamid Masih son of Shafi Masih resident of Chopra Shop Udhampur. Injured were shifted to General Hospital Rajouri. Police has registered a case in this regard.

Three  dead bodies recovered in Parampila Uri

Srinagar November 18: In continuation to the incident of Param Pilla bridge at Uri Baramulla on 16.11.2008, three more dead bodies were recovered on 17.11.2008 out of which two have been identified as Ab. Latief son of Ali Mohd resident of Param Pilla Uri and Ranjan Singh son of Narayan Singh resident of Mohabat Gunj Bihar. So far number of dead bodies recovered goes seven.

Potter dies in a a snow storm

Srinagar November 18: 68 Bn BSF Camp Jamna Wali Gali handed over a dead body of their potter namely Mohd Latief Bajard aged 28 years son of yaseen resident of Drang to police station Tangmarg Baramulla with a written report that the said potter had died in a snow storm while on way to Bakerwal Checking Post on 14.11.2008. Proceeding under section 174 CrPC have been initiated.

Bridge collapsed in Uri: 24 labourers die

Srinagar November 17: In continuation to the incident of Param Pila Uri, Baramulla wherein newly constructed bridge collapsed and twenty four labourers were feared to be dead in the incident, out of which three dead bodies have been recovered so far. One of the dead body has been identified as Gh. Qadir son of Gh. Mohd resident of Machi Karan Uri while as two unidentified dead bodies are lying in Sub District Hospital  Uri for identification. One injured namely Mohd Din son of Gh. Din resident of Machi Karan succumbed to his injuries at district hospital Baramulla.

1 dies, 38 injured in road mishaps

Jammu November 17: One person died and thirty-eight others were injured in different road accidents in Jammu.

            A Maruti Car bearing registration number DL 6CD-1355 on way from Jammu to Srinagar driven by Khalid Rashid, son of Abdul Rashid Mir, resident of Karan Nagar Srinagar rolled down about 150 feet in the jurisdiction of Police Station Ramban, resulting in injuries to the driver. The injured driver was rushed to district hospital Ramban where he succumbed to his injuries.

            A Civil Matador bearing registration number JK02J-1893 attached with district Rajouri for election duty driven by Pritam Lal, son of Kala Ram, resident of Keri Rajouri carrying twenty Police personnel of district Rajouri met with an accident at Sawhni Morh Bufliaz and turned turtle, resulting in injures to all the twenty Police personnel. All the injured were hospitalized.   

            Eighteen persons were admitted in GMC Jammu after sustaining injuries in different road accidents in Jammu city and outskirts.

Srinagar November 16: Kokernag police and 36 RR arrested one militant namely Ab. Jabar Lone son of Jamal Lone resident of Surkhandoo Kishtwar of HM outfit at Guri Draman Larnoo Kokernag in Anantnag. One SLR, one 9mm pistol, eight rounds of 9mm, 31 rounds 7.62 mm, one AK47 magazine, three SLR magazines and one wireless set were recovered at his instance.

Al-Bader militant arrested in Baramulla

Srinagar November 16: Baramulla police and 192 Bn. CRPF apprehended a suspect of Al- Badar outfit Gh. Mohd Wani @ Gula son of Gh. Ahmad resident of Naid Khai Sumbal in Khoja Bagh Baramulla  during Naka checking and recovered one pistol, one pistol magazine and five rounds  from his possession. Jammu November 16: On a specific information the nafri of C-Group Poonch and 27 RR launched a joint operation in Khenu Forest area, falling under the jurisdiction of Police Station Mandi. During the search operation one AK 47 rifle, three AK magazines, 90 AK rounds, one 9mm Pistol, one magazine and one pouch were recovered.

            A Matador bearing registration number JK08-3283 hit and injured a person namely Bishan Dass at Langate Morh, falling under the jurisdiction of Police Station Kathua. The injured person died on way to hospital.

            A TATA Sumo bearing registration number JK12-1667 rolled down at Majakote, resulting in on the spot death of Mohammad Zaqoob, 40, son of Talib Hussain, resident of Sagra and two persons sustained injuries.
