INFO-TECH CENTRE BECOMES FUNCTIONAL AT PHQ JAMMU

The centre, equipped with latest
state-ofart-technology gadgets, shall provide fast
and dependable means of communication and prove as a
force multiplier for providing prompt and best possible service to
the people: DGP, J&K.
|
The hi-tech Information Technology Centre
became operational at J&K Police Headquarters, Jammu. The centre shall go a
long way in speedy implementation of office automation process in the police
organization, besides catering to the training needs of
police personnel in info-tech.
The IT centre was inaugurated by Shri
Gopal Sharma, Director General Police, J&K on
April 11. A large number of police officers
including Shri P.S.Gill, ADG, Home Guards/Civil
Defence and Auxiliary Police, Shri kuldeep Khoda,
ADGP, Armed, Shri Radhavinod Raju, Commissioner of Vigilance, Dr.Ashok Bhan, ADGP, CID,
Shri K.Rajendra Kumar, IGP, Headquarters, Shri A.R.Khan, IGP, Modernisation, Shri P.K.Gupta, IGP,Crime and Railways, Dr.S.P.Vaid,
IGP, Jammu Zone, Shiekh Owais Ahmed, DIG, Home Guards/Civil Defence and Auxiliary Police, Shri Farooq Ahmed, DIG, Jammu Range, Shri M.A. Anjum, DIG, Armed
Jammu, Dr.A.K.Gupta, Director, Police
Telecommunication and Shri V.K.Ghai, DIG, CID, Jammu attended
the function.
Speaking on the occasion, Shri
Gopal Sharma, DGP said that the centre had the facility to train a batch of 50 police personnel
at a time and would serve as a nodal point to implement and supervise the
ongoing computerization programme of J&K Police.
20 police stations, 10 each in Jammu and Kashmir Divisions, would be developed as computerized model Police Stations during
the current year and a similar IT centre would be commissioned at Srinagar shortly, the
DGP added. He called upon all the ranks of J&K Police to become computer savvy so that
they were able to perform still better in accomplishing the professional tasks.
FREE MEDICAL CAMP ORGANIZED
The gap between the Police and
Public can be bridged; we have to exhibit a positive change in our behaviour
and attitude towards the public; we shall have to meet their expectations; treat them
well and serve them well: DGP,
J&K.
For the needy and poor sections of
the society,J&K Police organized a free
Medical Camp at District Police Lines, Jammu on
April 20, under Civic Action Programme (CAP). Mrs. Vimla Sharma, Chairperson of the
J&K Police Wives Club, inaugurated the camp.

Shri Gopal Sharma, DGP addressed
the gathering at the inaugural function and emphasised on cultivating good Police-Public
relations. For this, Police shall have to exhibit a positive change in their
behaviour towards public, he added.

various socially useful activities undertaken by
J&K Police under the Civic Action Programme.

round of all the departments and surveyed the arrangements at the camp site.

People in thousands, mostly the
slum dwellers and under privileged, inmates from
SOS Homes, Old Age Homes and physically challenged attended the departments
of Medicine, surgery, Orthopaedics, ENT, Dental, Gynaecology, ophthalmology and pedaetrics, manned by the specialist doctors of
Police Hospital, Jammu, for check up.
Medicines were provided to nearly
1500 patients. Those identified for fitting artificial
limbs, spectacles and hearing aids were given
follow up dates so that these items could be
procured and provided to them free of cost.
J&K POLICE SPORTSPERSONS HONOURED
With a view to felicitating the shining
and dedicated Sportspersons of J&K Police,
who, through their superb display of grit in a
number of sports events at domestic, national and international level, set high benchmarks
of excellence and brought laurels for the organization, Sports Achievement-Day was
held at Police Sports Stadium, Gulshan Ground
(Jammu), on April 19. A large number of sports fans, spectators, Police officers and men
had converged at the venue, to witness the pride moments of excitement.

Shri Gopal Sharma, Director
General Police, J&K presented the Medals,
Trophies, appreciation letters and mementos for
excellent performance in four categories, which included:

Sportspersons, who brought glory to
the organization, through splendid display of sporting skills at the international level;

Sportspersons, who proved their prowess
at the national level;
-
Sportspersons, who scaled new heights
of excellence in All India Police Games; and
-
Police officers, who contributed in
discovering and grooming the talent, building
sports infrastructure and promotion of sports
culture in J&K Police.
Shri Surinder Kapoor, Dy.S.P, received
the "Life Time Achievement Award"; S.I Rajesh Anand and S.I Kuldeep Handoo received
the "International Players special Award";
Constable Anju Bala and SG.Constable Zahoor
Ahmad received the "Most Promising Female Player
of the Year Award" and "Most Promising
Male Player of the Year Award" respectively;
S.I Satyakam Sharma and SG.Constable Vivek Khajuria received the "Best Coach Award of
the Year" respectively.
Those felicitated on the occasion
included S.I Kuldeep Handoo, who clinched
Bronze medal in 7th Asian Wushu
Championship-2004 and one Gold medals each in Senior
National Wushu Championship and All India wushu Federation Cup respectively, H.C Radha Devi, SG Constable Zahoor Ahmed and SPO Jagvinder Singh, who clinched medals
in national level competitions.

Speaking on the occasion, Shri
Gopal Sharma, DGP, J&K congratulated the sportspersons and urged them not to rest
and content with the laurels but resolve to sharpen
their talent and ability and achieve higher
benchmarks of excellence." You have to be daring and
different, focused and impenetrable", DGP said.
Earlier, Shri Kuldeep Khoda, ADGP,
Armed , in his welcome address, said that J&K
Police sports persons had proved their worth,
physical fitness and resilience at different levels
of competition, and now, they are set to scale new heights of excellence.

ROLE AND PERFORMANCE OF ARMED POLICE REVIEWED
To review the role and performance of
J&K Armed Police and to discuss and deliberate
on the future challenges and priorities, structural
and functional reforms, training requirements, infrastructure and logistic needs and
other activities and programmes, One-day Annual Commandant's Conference of J&K
Armed Police was held in the Conference Hall of
Armed Police headquarters, Jammu, on April 02. Shri Kuldeep Khoda, ADGP, Armed J&K,

among the senior officers present at the inaugural function.
In his inaugural speech, the
Director General Police while expressing
satisfaction over the standards of performance of
J&K Armed and IRP battalions, said that
Armed Police component is doing the role of a supporting force in maintaining the law and order, besides performing security duties
and anti-militancy operations. While dwelling on
the important issue of delegation of authority and power, DGP shared his experiences with
the participants and gave them some bits.
"Nobody can do everything every time himself; you
have to repose confidence in your subordinates
that they are able and competent to accomplish the given task", the DGP said. He emphasised
on building the confidence level of Jawan and uplifting his morale, holding of darbars and orderly rooms, focusing on welfare measures
of Jawan, instilling core values of respect for
human rights, dedication and devotion towards duty.

Earlier, in his welcome address,
Shri Kuldeep Khoda, ADGP, Armed J&K gave a brief resume of the performance of the
J&K Armed Police. The Armed police are the
striking core of J&K Police working with full
cooperation and acting like a catalyst in improving
the efficiency and effectiveness of the state
Police, he added.
Wide range of the subjects of topical
Police interest were discussed during the conference.
Shri Kuldeep Khoda, ADGP, Armed, in
his valedictory address, complimented the J&K Armed Police for always being the fore
runners in maintaining the peace and order in the
state. He thanked the participants and exhorted
them to do every thing possible in the direction
of winning the hearts of the people and building the image of the
Police.

was awarded the prestigious GOC- in- C Medal by Lt. General, Hari Prasad.

Armed Police Headquarters issued
an order, on April 28, fixing the responsibility of providing the buses for operating
the Police bus service between Jammu and
-
Srinagar. As per the order, Srinagar based
JKAP-5th , JKAP-9th ,
JKAP-13th , IRP-9th and
IRP-8th battalions shall operate the
bus service in May, June, July, August and September respectivelyand Jammu based
JKAP-14th, JKAP-7th and
JKAP-8th battalions shall operate the bus service
in the months of October, November and December respectively.

Constable Anju Bala of
J&K Police, a woman boxer,was selected for coaching at the
national coaching camp, Hissar
(Haryana),commencing from April 08. She was selected for the camp on the basis of
her performance in the 5th senior National Boxing Championship.

A zonal level debating contest was held
in the Conference Hall of APHQ at Jammu on April 11.The topic of the debate was "In
the opinion of the House, respect for Human Rights contributes in Police
professionalism". Shri Vikas Gupta, Dy.SP and Shri
Shoib Ashraf, Prosecuting Officer, were declared as `Winners' and Shri Arvind
Kotwal, Inspector and Ms. Sunita Handoo, ASI as `Runners-Up'.
On April 15, Kasim Din, a wrestler of
J&K Police, won the `Rustam-e-Jammu and Kashmir' wrestling contest, which
was organised in Jammu.
J&K Government issued the transfer
and posting orders of 26 SSsP and 32 SsP on April 22. Shri P.R.Manhas, SSP
Shri Rajesh Kumar, SSP, Shri S.D.Singh Jamwal, SSP, Shri Jhony William, SSP,
Mukesh Singh, SSP, Shri Alok Kumar, SSP, J.P.Singh, SSP, Shri A.K.Atri, SSP and
Shri S.A.Saeed, SSP and Shri Parminder Singh, SSP, were posted as new
Police Chiefs for Doda District,Udhampur District,
