03 Let militants killed in Kupwara encounter
Srinagar March, 15: Acting on a specific information, Kupwara police along with 41 RR, and 98 CRPF launched a cordon and search operation in Jugtiyal, Hyhama in the jurisdiction of Police Station Kupwara.
During the searches, militants present in the area fired on the search party. The fire was retaliated, ensuing an encounter.
Three LeT militants were killed in this encounter. The identity of these militants is being ascertained.
One police constable identified as Danish Ahmad was also injured in the encounter. He was shifted to Srinagar hospital for treatment.
A minor girl namely Kaneeza and a minor boy Faisal were injured after they were hit by stray bullets more than 100 meters away from the encounter site. They were shifted to hospital for treatment where the girl succumbed to her injuries. The boy has been referred to Srinagar and his condition is stable so far.
02 drug peddlers arrested in Anantnag and Srinagar
Srinagar March, 15: Acting tough against drug abuse, Jammu and Kashmir police arrested two drug peddlers in Anantnag and Srinagar.
Acting on specific information, a police party of Police Post General Bus Stand Anantnag, headed by SI Gowhar Ahmad Malla established a naka at KP road Anantnag. During the naka checking one person identified as Ghulam Mustafa Wani son of Ghulam Nabi resident of Sarnal Anantnag was intercepted. On checking 10 bottles of codeine phosphate were recovered from his possession.
A case FIR number 33/17 under section 21,22 NDPS was registered and investigation was taken up.
Meanwhile, acting on a specific input about a drug peddler identified as Tawseef Ahmad Sheikh son of Abdul Gani Sheikh, a police party of Police Post Bona Mohalla raided his house at Malpora Habakadal Srinagar. The said person tried to run away after noticing the movement of police patrol. The police party chased and overpowered him. On his search 124 tablets were recovered.
A case FIR number 11/2017 was registered against him in Police Station MR Gunj and investigation was taken up.
Anantnag police recovered abducted girl
Srinagar March, 15: Anantnag police recovered an abducted girl and arrested the accused involved in the crime.
Police post Utrsoo received a written complaint from one person that his daughter (name withheld) was kidnapped by one person namely Amir Ahmad Wagay son of Ghulam Mohd Wagay resident of Dethu Mattan.
On this information Police Post Utrsoo lodged a report and investigation was set into motion.
Police recovered the girl and arrested the accused from District Reasi. After completion of legal formalities the girl was handed over to her family members.
A case FIR number 15/2017 under section 363/ RPC was registered in Police Post Utrsoo and investigation was taken up.
02 die, 01 injured in road accidents
Srinagar March, 15: Two persons died while a pedestrian lady was injured in separate road accidents in Srinagar and Anantnag.
In Srinagar, a video coach vehicle bearing registration number JK02N-3107 driven by Sajad Ahmad Peer resident of Baginder Pampore hit and injured a pedestrian girl Abirou Hamid daughter of Abdul Hamid Dar resident of Samboora at Kadlabal Chowk, Pampore. She was shfted to Sub District Hospital Pampore for treatment where doctors declared her brought dead. The driver was arrested and the vehicle was seized.
In another accident, a load carrier bearing registration number JK05-4642 driven by Abdul Reheem resident of Shadipora Sumbal skidded off the road at Panznara in the jurisdiction of Police Station Parimpora, resulting in on spot death of the driver. After completion of medico legal formalities, the body of the deceased was handed over to his next of kins for last rites.
Srinagar police has registered cases regarding both the accidents.
In Anantnag, a sumo bearing registration number JK03C-9315 driven by Irshad Ahmad Badar resident of Zalangam Kokernag hit and injured a pedestrian lady namely Saida resident of Magam, Sonbarai at Bidder in the jurisdiction of Police Station Kokernag. The injured lady was shifted to hospital for treatment. Anantnag police has registered a case in this regard.
T-20 cricket tournament organized by IRP 8th Bn
Inaugural match played
Srinagar March, 15: Under civic action programme, IRP 8th Bn organized a T-20 cricket tournament at Sainik school in Manasbal. Principal Sainik School Mansbal Shri Nazir Ahmad Dar was the chief guest on the occasion.
Nine teams from Bandipora and Ganderbal are participating in this tournament. Commandant IR 8th Bn Shri M.L Mehra and other officers were present on the occasion. Besides, a large number of people witnessed the inaugural ceremony and inaugural match of the tournament.
Dy. Commandant Shri G.L Sharma while speaking on the occasion said that the basic aim of organizing such programmes is to boost the morale of budding players of these districts and to channelize the energy of youth towards sports.
The inaugural match was played between Eleven Friends Kangan and Wonder Boys Safapora which was won by Wonder Boys Safapora. Shahid Ahmad khan of Wonder Boys Safapora was declared as the man of the match.
