J&K Police continues drive “War against drugs”
04 notorious drug peddlers arrested, Huge consignment of drugs
recovered
Srinagar, January 17: Jammu and Kashmir Police while continuing its drive “War against
Drugs”, has arrested four drug peddlers in SafaKadal and Soura areas of the
Srinagar City. A huge quantity of contraband substances including 1902
bottles of codeine phosphate and about 11520 tablets of Spasmoproxyvan were
seized.
Acting on a specific information, a police party of Srinagar
police headed by In-Charge Police Post Bagyas SI Aijaz Ahmad and In-charge
Police Post Noorbagh SI Sheikh Aijaz laid a naka in Chattabal area
under the supervision of SDPO MR Gunj Shri S M Shafi. During naka checking,
an auto load carrier bearing registration number JK01N/ 5982 was
intercepted. On checking, 400 units of codeine phosphate packed in two
cardboard boxes were recovered. The driver was arrested on the spot and the
auto was seized.
On questioning, the accused driver confessed which led to seizure
of more contraband substances including 483 units of Codeine Phosphate and
11520 tablets of Spasmoproxyvan, which were recovered from the Parimpora
area.
A case FIR number 04/2018 under section 8/21, 22 of NDPS Act has
been registered in Police Station Safakadal and investigation is going on.
More recoveries are expected.
In another instance, A police party of Police Station Soura
headed by SHO Soura Shri Ayaz Geelani police intercepted an Alto 800 car
bearing registration number JKO1X-7020. On checking 1019 bottles of Codeine
Phosphate were recovered from the vehicle. Three persons identified as
Mudasir Sultan Bhat @ Majid resident of Sir Syed Abad Bemina, Feroz Ahmad
Khanday resident of Bilal Colony Qamarwari and Faisal Ayoub Sheikh resident
of MIG Colony Bemina who were boarding the vehicle were arrested.
In this regard a case FIR number 07/2018 under section 8/22 NDPS
Act stands registered in Police Station Soura and investigation of the case
is going on.
On preliminary investigation, it came to fore that this huge
consignment of contraband substances was meant for supply to the drug
peddlers who then used to sell these drugs to the youth of the area.
Jammu and Kashmir Police will continue this drive and efforts are
on to save the society from the menace of drugs which is taking toll on the
young generation.

Srinagar police organizes sports event
Srinagar, January 17: Under Civic Action Programme, Srinagar police has organized a
sports event at Police Station Maisuma.
Many indoor games including table tennis, carrom etc were played
in the premises of Police Station Maisuma in which a number of youngsters
from Maisuma and adjacent areas participated.
The aim of organizing such events is to impart and inculcate the
sense of discipline, sportsmanship and camaraderie among the youth.

02 Timber smugglers arrested in Anantnag;
02 tractors, illegal timer seized
Srinagar, January 17: Anantnag police has arrested two timber smugglers and seized two
tractors which were loaded with illegal timber in Mattan area of the
district.
Acting on a specific information, a police party of Police
Station Mattan led by SHO Mattan seized Two tractors bearing registration
numbers JKO3/6779 and JK03F/ 4494 which were loaded with illegal timber at
Kehribal Mattan. Two timber smugglers identified as Ramiz Farooq Dar son of
Farooq Ahmad Dar resident of Brakpora and Fasil Rashid Dar son
of Abdul Rashid Dar resident of Brakpora Anantnag were arrested.
A case FIR number 03/2018 under section 379, 406, 407, 409, 109
and 06 Forest Act was registered in Police Station Mattan and further
investigation is going on.

Help to trace out the missing person
Srinagar, January 17: Srinagar police seeks help of the general public in tracing out a
missing person who is missing from 15thof the instant month.
Police Station SafaKadal received a complaint from one lady
namely Gulshan Mir resident of Chandanpora Waniyar wherein she stated that
her husband namely Bilal Ahmad Mir son of Ghulam Ahmad Mir resident of
Chandanpora Waniyar, about 40 years old, having mobile number 9108236218 is
missing since 15th of January 2018.
