Pulwama police continues drive against drug peddlers;
01 arrested, contraband substances recovered
Srinagar, September 26: Continuing its drive against drug menace, Pulwama police raided different places in the district and recovered huge quantity of contraband substances from their residences.
A police team including SHO Pulwama, SHO Rajpora, DO Lassipora headed by DYSP Hqrs Pulwama conducted a number of raids in nook and corner of Pulwama district including Gulshan Abad, Shaltakiya, Rehmoo, Kulpora, Wahipora, Arihal, Deeri, Dangerpora villages. During these raids 71 kilograms of fukki, 33 kilograms of charas and other contraband substances were recovered. One notorious drug peddler was arrested on the spot while the rest are absconding. A man hunt has been launched to nab these drug peddlers.
One drug peddler namely Tariq Ahmad Teli son of Ali Mohammad resident of Rehmoo was arrested with 4 kilograms of charas powder. A case FIR number 66/17 was registered in Police Station Rajpora and investigation was taken up.
71 kilograms of Fukki was recovered from the house of Mohammad Ahsan Sheikh son of Ghulam Ahmad resident of Shaltakiya. A case FIR number 65/17 has been registered in Police Station Rajpora and investigation was taken up.
18 kilograms of charas powder was recovered from Mohammad Jabar Sheikh son of Ghulam Hassan Bhat resident of Kulpora. A case FIR number 314/17 has been registered in Police Station Pulwama.
11 kilograms of charas powder was recovered from the house of notorious smuggler Imtiyaz Ahmad Wani son of Ghulam Mohammad resident of Wahipora. A case FIR number 315/17 was registered in Police Station Pulwama.
Bung Putri (raw material of Charas), a psychotropic substance, was recovered from the house of Abdul Ahad Wani son of Sabir Wani resident of Arihal. A case FIR number 316/17 was registered in Police Station Pulwama.
05 kilograms of psychotropic substance was recovered from the house of Rayees Ahmad Mir son of Ghulam Ahmad resident Kralpora Arihal. A case FIR number 317/17 was registered in Police Station Pulwama.
SSP Pulwama has expressed his thanks to general public of these areas especially youth for extending their wholehearted support and cooperation to the police team in eradication of drug menace.
Burglar arrested in Anantnag;
Stolen items recovered
Srinagar, September 26: Anantnag police arrested a burglar and recovered stolen items from his possession.
Police Station Mattan received a written complaint from one person namely Adil Hussain Wani son of Ishtiyaq Ahmad Wani resident of Seer Hamdan that some unknown burglars barged and looted his shop during night hours at Seer Hamdan.
In this regard, a case FIR number 75/ 2017 under section 457, 380 RPC was registered and investigation was set into motion.
During investigation, Anantnag police zeroed on one person namely Zahid Ahmad Wani son of Bashir Ahmad Wani resident of Seer Hamdan. On questioning the accused revealed that he is involved in the crime and on his instance 21 boxes of cigarette were recovered.
Further investigation of the case was taken up.
Drive against illegal encroachment held in Ganderbal
Srinagar, September 26: Ganderbal police with the help of other civil departments carried out the drive against encroachment of illegal land at Vovosipora, Nunar.
Most part of the area was cleared up by using cutters and JCB. DySP Hqr Dr. Rameez Raja, Tehsildar Ganderbal Ms Rabiya Yousuf and SHO Ganderbal Shri Tariq Yousuf were present during the anti encroachment drive.
Bhung cultivation destroyed in Anantnag, Awantipora
Srinagar, September 26: Continuing its drive against bhung cultivation, Anantnag and Awantipora police destroyed bhung cultivation spread on about 90 kanals of land in their respective districts.
On the directions of SSP Anantnag Shri Altaf Ahmad Khan, the bhung cultivation was destroyed in Ashmuqam, Bijbehara and Mattan areas of the district.
Ashmuqam police headed by SHO Ashmuqam carried out the drive at Nagabal, Haptnad villages of Ashmuqam and destroyed bhung cultivation spread on about 25 kanals of land.
Bijbehara police headed by SHO Bijbehara along with Excise Department destroyed bhung cultivation spread on 50 Kanals of land in Takia Maksood Shah and Laamgund Veeri villages.
Mattan police headed by SHO Mattan destroyed bhung cultivation spread on 14 kanals of land at village Kredzal Nanil.
The drive against the drug menace will continue in the district.
Meanwhile, Awantipora police also carried out the same drive at village Reshipora and destroyed bhung cultivation.
01 dies, 06 injured in road accidents
Srinagar, September 26: One person died while six others were injured in different road accidents across the valley.
In Kupwara, one Platform vehicle bearing registration number JK02R/2037 skidded off from the road at Wani Mohalla Machil in the jurisdiction of Police Post Machil, resulting in on spot death of one person namely Salman Sarkali son of Wali Mohammad resident of Doban Khurhama and injuries to one Ghulam Qadir Khan resident of Doban Khurhama. After completion of medico legal formalities, the body of the deceased was handed over to his relatives for last rites. The injured was shifted to District Hospital Kupwara for treatment. Kupwara police has registered a case in this regard.
In Bandipora, a Rextant car bearing registration number JK04C/121 hit and injured a pedestrian namely Majid Amin Ganai resident of Garoora Argam at Garoora in the jurisdiction of Police Station Aragam. The injured was shifted to District Hospital Bandipora where from he was shifted to JVC Hospital Srinagar for further treatment. Bandipora police has registered a case in this regard.
In Anantnag, an Alto car bearing registration number JK22A/3175 driven by Showkat Ahmad Rather resident of Sadipora Shopian and a Tavera bearing registration number JK03D/4490 collided at Pindobal Nagrard in the jurisdiction of Police Station Kokernag, resulting in injuries to Alto driver and three other persons namely Kounser Jan, Bashir Ahmad, residents of Sadipora and Shahida resident of Dampathri Keller. All the injured were shifted to Sub District Hospital Kokernag for treatment. Anantnag police has registered a case in this regard.
Rebuttal… Malwan Incident
Srinagar, September 26: Appropos to a news being circulated on social media where in it was stated that “hair chopper was caught in Malwan Kulgam but army came and rescued him”.
District Police authorities Kulgam has clarified that yesterday evening at about 8pm when 9 RR cordoned off few houses in village Malwan, some miscreants started spreading rumor that army has rescued hair cutter from one house.
It was also clarified from the house owners that they didn't caught any hair cutter, neither army rescued anyone from their home. Rumour mongers taking advantage of situation are trying to create fear psychosis amongst people. These anti-social elements will be dealt with sternly under legal provisions.
We appeal reasonable and respected people to come forward and cooperate with police to ensure curbing these elements and their activities.

Sofar 32 drug peddlers arrested
Srinagar, September 26: Jammu and Kashmir Police in its continuous drive to eradicate the menace of drugs, arrested a notorious drug peddler in Kupwara.
Acting on a specific information, Kupwara police arrested a notorious drug peddler identified as Mohammad Abdullah Dar son of Habib-ul-Lah resident of Kunan Poshpora and recovered 01 kilogram of charas from his possession.
A case FIR number 35/2017 under section 8/20 NDPS Act stands registered in Police Station Trehgam and investigation was taken up.
While giving the details during a press briefing, SSP Kupwara Shri Shamsheer Hussain said that during the special drive against drug peddlers, a special team has been constituted which has so far recovered 12.6 Kgs of Charas, 2 Kgs of Heroine, 4.5 Kgs of Brown Sugar and huge quantity of codeine.
He said that more arrests and recoveries are expected in near future so as to bust the whole racket involved in sale of banned drugs and psychotropic substances which are involving the youth of the area.
He also said that so far 32 accused involved in drug peddling/narcotic smugglers including four cross LoC narcotic smugglers have been arrested and investigation of cases registered is in progress.
SSP also said J&K Police is committed to eradicate the drug menace from the society which is one of the commandments of J&K Police for the year 2017. SSP Kupwara has appealed the local population to assist the police in its special drive so as to make the Kupwara drug free.
Local people of the area have eulogized the role of Police for launching effective campaign against drug peddlers and sale of psychotropic substances which according to locals are ruining the health and future of the youth who requires special orientation/education for their bright career.
SSP Kupwara also said that addicted youth should avail the free facilities of de-addiction created by J&K Police at de-Addiction Centre PCR Srinagar. In this regard he appealed the parents of addicted youth to come forward without any social stigma so that their future can be saved.
